Philip José Farmer, escritor americano (North Terre Haute, Indiana, 26.1.1919 - Peoria, Illinois, 25.2.2009) que distingiu pela sua produção na área do romance de aventuras e da ficção científica, a qual lhe valeu diversas distinções, nomeadamente vários Prémios Hugo e o Prémio Nebula (Grand Master Award, 2001). Para além de numerosas colaborações de natureza diversa em revistas, a sua obra abrange romances (organizados por vezes em séries como «Riverworld», «World of Tiers»), contos, poemas e ensaios.
